LOGIC LOST (dylan amirio)

Logic Lost is the moniker of Jakartan electronic experimental artist Dylan Amirio. Started during his college years in Melbourne, Australia, in 2012, his foray into electronic music came after spending days holed up in his bedroom and immersing himself in the music of Oneohtrix Point Never and a lot of manga comics, eventually building a trove of ideas.

Soundwise, Logic Lost’s electronica has been described as ambient, drone, big beat and even showed tinges of hip hop and RnB. Some of the influences include: Four Tet, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jon Hopkins, Boards of Canada, Tim Hecker, Jamie xx and Fennesz. Despite the influences, Logic Lost has no desire to become his inspirations and wants to pave his own path.

2015 was a big year for Logic Lost as he put out his first official releases. One, named the Apologies EP, was put out by American experimental netlabel Zenapolae (http://www.zenapolae.com/) in June 2015 for free. Apologies showcased Logic Lost’s more straightforward ambient works, with the absence of drums and a focus on soundscapes.

The next release, entitled Runaway, had a completely different direction than Apologies, focused less on ambience and soundscapes and adopted a variety of beat-driven electronic influences. It was released under premier Indonesian indie label Orange Cliff Records on November 23, 2015. It is available on Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes. The album had been well-received, with some calling it a “stunning ambient gem”.

In February 2017, Logic Lost released its newest EP entitled “If I Trust You” on Jakarta-based electronic label DEAD Records, and is also available on Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes. The EP saw subtle changes in Logic Lost’s sound, fusing the typical ambient and noise-driven sounds with a more pop and R&B beat-driven structure.

Dylan describes Logic Lost as a “constantly evolving entity”, which will always take inspiration in his own maturation process, as well as the environment around him.
